Your Support Powers Educational Growth and Global Connections
Our mission to inspire a deeper understanding of world affairs is exemplified in our Global Young Leaders (GYL) education program and Citizen Diplomacy initiatives through International Visitor Programs. Both programs prepare North Texans to navigate an increasingly interconnected world, fostering the skills to shape a positive future for their communities and beyond.
Education
The Global Young Leaders education program directly impacts an average of 6,000 students and 1,000 teachers in schools around DFW annually. With Junior World Affairs Councils on more than 60 high school campuses (public, private, homeschool, and charter), it is the preeminent educational initiative in North Texas focused on global competence and civic engagement.

“The Council showed me the power that I hold to influence change on a local and global level. I made lifelong connections through the Council. Overall the Council has facilitated my dreams of creating change and taught me that my voice can truly make an impact.”
- Sahib Kaur, former Junior World Affairs Council Student
Citizen Diplomacy
The Council coordinates professional international exchanges on behalf of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program, supporting national foreign policy goals. Visitors from across the globe experience exchanges that connect them with professional counterparts here in North Texas, cultivating diplomatic cooperation, cultural understanding, and lasting relationships.

“It provides an opportunity to “travel the world” without leaving home. I can introduce my friends and family to people of other cultures and we all come away with a better appreciation of each other.”
