Join us for an engaging morning with acclaimed biographer and historian Walter Isaacson as he discusses his latest work, The Greatest Sentence Ever Written. Published in honor of America’s 250th anniversary, Isaacson’s new book explores the enduring power of a single line from the Declaration of Independence:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal…”

Attendees will hear about the ideas that have shaped Isaacson’s writing and the figures who have inspired his career – from innovators and visionaries to the Founding Fathers themselves. Known for his ability to bring history and humanity to life, he will share insights on creativity, leadership, and the enduring principles that continue to define the American story.

ABOUT THE LECTURE

The Patricia M. Patterson Endowed Lecture was established in 2008 to honor and recognize Pat Patterson’s extraordinary service as chair of the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth from 2004-2007. Of note, this was the Council’s very first endowed, named lecture. Initial contributors to the fund included the McDermott Foundation, members of Pat’s family, directors, and friends.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Walter Isaacson is the bestselling author of biographies of Leonardo da Vinci, Jennifer Doudna, Steve Jobs, Benjamin Franklin, Albert Einstein, and more. He is a professor of history at Tulane and was CEO of the Aspen Institute, chair of CNN, and editor of Time. He was awarded the National Humanities Medal in 2023.
