Dawn Owens

Dawn Owens is the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs in the Jindal School of Management. Her professional expertise spans various domains, including higher education, Information Technology practice, and non-profit. As a technology educator, she brings innovative practices to academic leadership, with a proven track record in curriculum development, program management, and student mentoring. Her leadership extends to core competencies such as program management, curriculum development, STEM education, academic administration, and software development. These, combined with personal skills like effective communication, critical thinking, and transparency, contribute to her holistic approach to leadership. In her tenure at The University of Texas at Dallas, she played a pivotal role in launching and overseeing the undergraduate Business Analytics program, contributing to its growth and industry partnerships. Additionally, she successfully managed the Computer Information Technology and Systems program, steering it to become the largest program in the School of Management. She has a vision for leveraging technology to shape the future of education. She remains dedicated to making a lasting impact on the educational landscape and fostering a new generation of tech-savvy leaders. She earned her PhD in Information Technology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Her research focuses on understanding the impact of technology on work practices. She is very active in the Association for Information Systems (AIS), where she has served as co-chair of the AIS Women’s Network and President for the Special Interest Group on IT Project Management.
