Maisie Heiken retired in 2019, with 27 years of experience from Bank of America/Merrill Lynch, as a senior vice president in wealth management and portfolio management. Pioneering the use of digital contact system, she is a consistent, first quintile performer, who built a significant book of business from ground zero, with remarkable asset gathering skill and tenacity. Recognized by Barron’s as a Top 1000 Advisors, she guided her clients away from risky high yielding assets, and selected individualized, prudent investment strategies. She led her team of client associates by wanting to get it right, not being right. Collectively they provided extraordinary client experience and received their outstanding ratings. Team members rewarded her with respect and loyalty, while gaining job satisfaction, personal and professional growth. Her manufacturing and marketing experience with Caterpillar Inc. in Hong Kong, Peoria IL and Geneva Switzerland afforded her life and work experience that spanned 3 continents. Accomplishments include putting on equipment trade shows in Southeast Asia countries, Caterpillar’s participation at the first all US products trade show in Beijing 1980, serving as a Chinese delegates’ liaison and a translator for their visits to head office manufacturing and parts facilities, and coordinating dealers’ incentive programs for dealers in the Middle East, Europe and Africa. She began her career as an information manager of the Hong Kong Tourism Board. She worked part time, hosted a beauty talk show, co-hosted a game show, and reported evening weather for the Hong Kong Television Broadcast Jade Chanel. Also freelanced as a still ads and commercials model for some leading consumer brands. Ability to draw parallels, break down complex issues into bite sizes, her experience and a diverse global prospective brings to a board absolute regulatory compliance standard. Her curiosity, candor and loyalty in serving all stakeholders brings to a board unique energy and adaptability to cultural nuisance. Her keen eyes are on corporate governance, markets management, and investor relations issues. Having tackled and prevailed over financial markets debacles in 2000 and 2008, she solves problems by both immersing herself and analyzing the situation from all perspectives. She addresses crisis with a clear mind, conscience and courage. While working for Merrill Lynch, they sent her to attend executive education programs at Harvard, Wharton, UCLA, UC Berkeley to sharpen technical and soft skills, and to embrace wellness and mindfulness. With a Bachelor of Science degree, major in finance, from the University of Illinois, she provided full ride scholarships and served on their foundation board – investment policy and stewardships committees. Currently, a council member of the College of Business Dean’s Business Advisory and the Mayo Clinic. Also, a board member of the Dallas Symphony Association and their Foundation, with a viola chair endowment, and served the World Affairs Council in Dallas/Fort Worth from 2019-2024. She is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors, the National Association for Business Economics, and the Institute of Investments and Wealth, where she earned the designation of CIMA® Certified Investment Manager Analyst. A global citizen, having visited 55 countries, she is a Chinese national from Hong Kong, and a long-term US citizen. She reads and writes Chinese, fluent in Cantonese and conversant in Mandarin.
