Alicia Barrs is a highly experienced trial attorney and strategist with a track record for handling complex, high-stakes litigation across industries. As a partner in Barnes & Thornburg’s Litigation Department, she often navigates clients through large-scale, multi-jurisdictional cases, multifaceted cases, efficiently managing hundreds of lawsuits across multiple jurisdictions. Alicia also has extensive experience advising on high-profile compliance monitoring, as well as antitrust, and government investigation matters.
Alicia’s experience includes conducting market analyses, and adeptly responding to civil investigative demands from government agencies with precision and insight. Alicia also strategically develops and refines her clients’ compliance programs to ensure effective operation. High-profile compliance monitoring roles round out Alicia’s practice, including oversight assistance for a major U.S. medical device manufacturer and monitoring U.S. export control compliance for Chinese telecommunications giants. Her broad experience enables her to deliver forward-thinking legal solutions to clients across diverse industries.
Alicia’s excellence has earned her many recognitions, including from Top 100 National Black Lawyers, Best Lawyers, and Super Lawyers. Most recently, she was named an Associate Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America—an honor given to fewer than 0.5 percent of U.S. litigators for demonstrated trial skill, ethical standing, and accomplishment.
She earned her J.D. from The College of William & Mary, Marshall-Wythe School of Law, where she was a member of the Journal of Women and the Law and a member of the board of the William & Mary National Trial Team. She earned her B.S. from Indiana University Kelley School of Business, magna cum laude.
