Aeroplan members will be able to start collecting points by shopping on Amazon.ca starting on April 24.
Members will be able to earn at least one Aeroplan mile for every $1 dollar spent on most Amazon.ca purchases, according to details provided by Aeroplan on Monday. Status members will be able to earn miles faster.
Aeroplan users with silver and black status will receive up to twice the miles on Amazon.ca transactions, while those with diamond status stand to earn up to three times the miles. Members with an Aeroplan-affiliated financial card will earn twice the miles.
To collect miles, users will have to access Amazon.ca via the Aeroplan website, the loyalty program said.

The new partnership comes days after Aeroplan announced the upcoming end of its longstanding tie-up with Esso. The rewards program notified members via email last week to let them know that Esso gas stations would stop issuing Aeroplan miles as of June 1.

The announcement came shortly before Loblaw revealed a deal with Imperial Oil on March 13 that will allow PC Optimum card holders to start earning points at more than 1,800 Esso gas stations starting this summer.
Aeroplan, which counts five million active members, has also been coping with the anticipated end of its partnership with Air Canada.
The airline said last year it wouldn’t renew its agreement with Aeroplan’s operator, Aimia, when the current expires at the end of June 2020.
